I am married to Heidi and the father of a blended family with seven children and one grandchild. Previous jobs included Director of Marketing for an international paper company and Chief Marketing Officer for an oral care company before going into private practice as a copywriter and freelancer. I am a prolific writer and the author of numerous articles, blogs, and short stories. When I'm not writing, husbanding, parenting, or grand-parenting, I am active in martial arts, Spartan obstacle course racing, a marathon runner, and an Ironman Triathlete. You can follow my workouts and races on Facebook and Instagram under RunningwriterNJ.
This is a pen name I use when writing fiction. Frank James Rice was a real person, and my great-great grandfather. He lived in the 19th century and was a Medical Doctor and Surgeon. He succumbed to Yellow Fever in 1878. I have always felt he had a great literary name - all monosyllabic with just the right blend of cacophony. Two unpublished compilations, "Waiting for Spring" and "Tales from Mordecai Island," comprising more than thirty short stories, have been written under the name of Frank James Rice.
The following are a few tales from the unpublished short story compilation titled "Waiting for Spring."
